OpenStreetMap contributors

Street geometry and names in this directory are derived from OpenStreetMap via a recorded snapshot. Attribution and provenance are retained. Data is available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL).

Municipal and postal layers

Cape Town Street Names and TCT Road Centreline are separate datasets. Their reuse permissions and cross-layer correspondence remain under review. They do not supply facts to this release. No authorised national postal assignment layer has been loaded.

Derived database

The derived database used to build these pages, with its source snapshot reference and checksums, is offered for download on this page under the Open Database Licence (ODbL) 1.0.

Nearby places and road tags

This release also uses named OpenStreetMap point objects and road attributes from the same recorded Geofabrik snapshot. It adds no municipal, property-price, census or scheduled-transit dataset. Coordinates, object identifiers, source timestamps, category rules and metric calculations are preserved in the private frozen dataset. The same Open Database Licence and publication review apply.

Country overview map

The home map uses the nine South African provinces from Natural Earth Admin 1, version 5.1.1, at 1:10 million scale. Natural Earth data is public domain. The source was downloaded on 29 September 2026 and retained with its checksum.

Boundaries are simplified for this country overview. The map is illustrative, not an official boundary record or evidence of street coverage. Only highlighted provinces have available street samples. The map shows mainland South Africa; offshore territories outside the mainland view are not represented. It loads locally, without external tiles or location requests.

Source date and processing date

The extract timestamp below is the age of the map data. Processing runs apply Callejear’s interpretation rules; they do not refresh OpenStreetMap.
